astrohil 10 Report post Posted March 15, 2009 How do you find the Skywatcher? I've been thinking about the 6" for a travel scope' date=' f/8 [/quote'] I love it. Had a 4.5" newt on an equatorial mount as my first scope, so much setup effort for so little result. The dobby is just fabulous. Easy to carry, quick to setup, and great views. Fits easily in the back of my wagon, but it would go in a sedan with the tube on the back seat and the base in the boot. I have a Lumicon Digi-Cam adapter which I use with my lil ole Sony Cyber-shot digital camera (nothing special) to produce some nice basic shots of the moon. I haven't tested its limits on that, just getting the hang of it so far. It was $450 inc delivery, so lots of bang for my buck, as they say. I take it out regularly to lunar nights, deep sky nights, camp, and school and public viewing nights, or just use it in my front yard (which is light polluted to the max but faces south so still good bright stuff to see). I wouldn't go down to the 6", this one is just super and easy to take everywhere I need to go. Cheers,

Would love to see an aurora though. willik I took the plunge and bought a TMB 130 F7 refractor from astronomics usa have not had the chance to use the weather is bad perth wa hope I took the right choice williams or TMB I don't think I have ever read a bad review about TMB. I have not looked through a TMB scope either though. I did buy a TMB planetary eyepeice a couple of weeks back (6mm). I tried it out on my SCT but the seeing wasn't stable enough. I'll try it on the moon this week sometime. We have been getting shabby weather so hopefully I'll be able to put this eyepeice through it's paces soon. Good luck with the scope mate. Warthog 10 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 My nephew, the City Zoning Clerk, tells me that my back shed is one more shed than I'm allowed to have, and I can't have another building. Chunk 42 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 Hi All, Having Shane (AKA poppasmurf) convince me to take some pics of my set-up.. here it is. Like most, it is still not finished. The pier is still in the drawing stage (scrap paper and scribbles). The roll off shed finished 2-3months ago houses my Skywatcher ProED120 with a mono GSTAR EX (with filters and selector etc) and is guided by StarShoot Autoguider through the SW909 scope. The HEQ5Pro mount handles this set-up very well. Daniel.

Radar 712 Report post Posted January 17, 2010 Nothing like the luxury of not having to setup each night Dan. Looks neat and easy to use. How's the sky line, neighbors trees etc. Ray
Chunk 42 Report post Posted January 17, 2010 It is easy enough to use & low in cost. There are a couple of problem trees in the east. Just means I have to stay up longer at night to catch those objects out that way. I get most stuff in except the low horizon stuff in the north. Can't win ém all. And yes Shane.... after seeing your set-up in person, I would like to actually see what it's capable of. I'm sure I'll be impressed. Thanks. Daniel.
WadeH 10 Report post Posted January 30, 2010 Ok, my turn. I have had my Skywatcher 8" newt. for a number of years now and have had wonderful views through it. It still continues to amaze me of what it is capible of. Also I have two binoculars, 10X50 saxons and 30X100 AOE (great for comets). And a nice semi-dark location.
