A couple of my night time friends

These were taken around Halloween.  As this is the time of year these creepy crawlies tend to thrive.  Just simple telephoto pics.

The first image I thought was a common garden variety 'Writing Spider" (Charlotte's Web.)  But something didn't appear right.  In the sunlight she glistened like a piece of chrome, and she didn't write.  Upon a little research ( a real book,)  I discovered she is a Labyrinth spider.

The second image, I don't know what the heck she is, but I did like the fact she would take down her web every morning.  The last one she made was about 4ft. in diameter.  I guess her final 'push'.

Just great! Now I'm all creeped out! Nice shots though. When I lived in North Carolina as a kid I was always on the lookout for black widows...they were everywhere!

Yep, all creeped out as well. But great shots of amazing organisms. The second one has more hair than me. We just killed a red back (black widow) that we found making a home on my golf bag recently (not that I can play golf).
