Remember the Rosetta mission.

Recommended Posts

On 20 January 2014, ESA?s comet-chasing Rosetta spacecraft is set to wake up from 957 days in deep-space hibernation to rendezvous with Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko where it will study the nucleus of the comet and its environment for nearly two years, and land a probe on its surface.

Yep, This one I had forgotten about. This age is absolutely amazing with what is capable.

Thanks for the reminder! This will be one to watch the progress on.

Yeah I remember this one to. Rosetta stuck in my mind because I remember one of the last gravity slingshots it did brought it up to a velocity of 15 kilometres per second. At the time I was thinking that's the fastest I'd seen.

P.S Someone in the future trolling the net will find this thread in 50 years, when spacecraft are easily doing speeds that dwarf the speed I mention above. That person will have a good laugh at us because we thought 15 kilometres per second was fast.
