NGC 4038/9 (& 4027 I think)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Here's my attempt at these two galaxies. I think the other one is NGC 4027. Correct me if I am wrong though.

Good one. The Antenna galaxies can be quite difficult. If you stretch a little you can see nice tails. The further galaxy is NGC4027. Good detail in both.

Thanks guys. Things were working well. The weather was pretty close to perfect, just cold, that's all. Dew heaters were up and running.

Should I be binning the RGB's? If so, wouldn't that change the image scale and make it difficult to layer the L channel?

Daniel.

Excellent Chunk. Awesome target as well. Can't wait to try this one.

Thanks Trevor, Ray & Tony. It's been a target I've been after for a while. Imagine what's going on there. It would be scary stuff.

Daniel.

Be spewing if you lived on a planet stuck at the very end of that galactic tail. Just one gravitational slingshot from being ejected into intergalactic space.

You're right! Galaxy mergers must produce fierce radiation, winds, magnetic fields, chaos... Some day ours and Andromeda will experience the same, but before it actually happens, imagine the view of our neighboring galaxy will present to anyone here to observe it.
