Three planets line up in the western sky these warm summer evenings. Venus -- easily the brightest of the trio -- punctuates the twilight shortly after the Sun goes down.

Saturn follows Venus into view, and fainter Mars shows its ruddy face not long after. Mercury joins the parade in mid-July at about the same time a crescent Moon passes through the area.
