Spur of the moment thing I did today with the crummy weather about was to make up a hutch/computer desk with castors and utilise a camping shower/tent given as a birthday gift :eartoear: Be a while before {if ever} I'm lucky enough to have a permanent Ob so this is the next best thing. I have to use the desktop PC for its usb2 ports my laptop is a vintage P111. Just have to get some red/nd filter for the screens and rig up some red led lights along the desk roof to finish off, might make a stand for the top for some Star2000 star charts.

That's a neat little system you have there Stu.
As far as plastic screens go, there is a great place in Osborne Park, some kind of plastics place. They'll cut and bend the type of plastic you'd want for this. Can't remember the name at the moment, but I will be driving past it either tomorrow or tuesday.

Yes Pat one day  yours looks very impressive.....one of the hassles with my set-up is its open to public view {driveway} so I can't leave the gear unattended so having the shelter makes it little bit more comfy at 2 in the morning :eartoear: . Thanks Ray, have seen something here http://www.starstuff.com.au/pcstrff.html...not sure if its better to get photographic red gel/nd filter for dark sight adaption over red polycarbonate/plastic

I'll bet the manufacturers never thought their shower cubicle would be used for this Stu! Good thinking mate.
If there's one thing I've noticed with many of the contributors to this site, it's that they are great innovators and utilisers. Just give 'em a workshop, a few tools and an idea and away they go!
