Took these a couple of Friday's ago , that night there was a fair bit of wind which made life hard so I wasnt confident how they would turn out but here goes anywhy :duh: Cant remember the exact settings but each image is made of 5 min exposures @ 400iso Nikon D70 through a Orion80mmEd

Nice shots Beren. I love the Omega Centuari. What processing did you do to Carina? It has a very smooth feel to it.

Thanks Ray, I used Deepskystacker {freeware program} for the first time on the Eta shot and I was surprised how it got rid of the amp glo that is pretty invasive with the D70. I normally use Images plus for stacking etc but I always seem to have some amp glow noticeable if I push the processing. Anyway the Eta shot was a bit easier to process in Photoshop , increased the red saturation a little :hmm: I was happy how it turned out {some field rotation in the bottom left hand corner "doh"} considering the light pollution of the Perth CBD southwards

Nice work Beren. I'm getting more and more impressed with how much a DLSR can record in such a short amount of time. Strange question, but does a faster ISO setting affect the graininess of a DLSR shot like in film?

Yes, noise levels increase ....starting out I had the ISO level way to high, I think most people recommend 800 but lately especially during the warmer months Im dropping to the 200-400 range with my D70.

Whoever invents a film or CCD chip that is 1600 ISO with no grain or noise is going to be a popular person in the asto imaging world.
