Here is a site I found that has been helpful to me in compiling a viewing/photographic log.
www.ngcic.org
You can use this site to print out a NGC/IC list by using set parameters such as constellation, visual and photographic magnitude.object type, etc.
It gives you the Dreyer description,RA,DE,object size, etc.
I found this very helpful in keeping a log of what I have viewed,and/or will be photographing.
With a goto scope this is also helpful in being able to key in the specific catalog # to slew to an object,in a specific constellation,or a specific area of the night sky.
