Arianne Five's are a well used launch vehicle for Satellites, not astronauts. This will be worth setting your alarm for.


THE LAUNCH READINESS REVIEW (RAL) took place in Kourou on Wednesday, October 5, 2007 and authorized count-down operations for the INTELSAT 11 & OPTUS D2 launch. For its fourth launch of the year Arianespace will boost two communications satellites into orbit: Intelsat 11 for the international operator Intelsat, and Optus D2 for the Australian operator Optus. Both satellites were built by Orbital Sciences Corporation. Through proven reliability and availability, Arianespace and Ariane continue to set the launch service standard for the world’s leading space communications operators. It will be launched from the Ariane launch complex N° 3 (ELA3), in Kourou, French Guiana.


THE ARIANE 5 "GS" LAUNCHER LIFT-OFF for this flight is scheduled during the night of October 5 to 6, 2007 as soon as possible within the following launch window:


GMT: Between 09:28pm and 10:13pm on October 5, 2007.
PARIS: Between 11:28pm and 00:13am on October 5-6, 2007.
WASHINGTON: Between 05:28pm and 06:13pm on October 5, 2007.
KOUROU: Between 06:28pm and 07:13pm on October 5, 2007.
SYDNEY: Between 07:28am and 08:13am on October 6, 2007.

i must admit i missed this launch, but the more i watched of nasa tv the more this type of thing grew on me.

the replay of that launch was interesting. love how the camera nearly got blown off its bracket.
