Our galactic centre near Sagittarius. Lagoon and Trifid nebulae centre image.

Cannon EOS 400D unmodified with 75-300mm lens at F/5.6

12 x 2 minute exposures at ISO800

Piggybacked on fork mounted and polar aligned Nexstar 11 GPS

Manual guiding

Darks subtracted and processed with Deep Sky Stacker and Photoshop

The sky was beautiful tonight until the moon took over. Friday nights are my best night, but there are so many factors against limiting yourself to a particular night per week. I would have added more subs, but the extra light in the sky may have ruined it.

Anyway, I hope you all like it.

Cheers,

Baz.

You've done well here Baz. Captured a lot of real estate, the dark nebula look awesome in there.

Your shot shows no sign of light pollution either. I'm always interested to know about people's light pollution levels because different imaging systems can have different results with light pollution. Do you have many street lights in your street?

Ive got three big white street lights straight across the road Ray. I need an air rifle, but I think I would be a dead giveaway.

Canberra is not too bad. I'm in it's southern suburbs, so the northern skies are pretty ordinary. My neighbor has a HUGE gum tree in the way anyway.

If I ever want to get some shots in the north, I'm afraid I am going to have to remove the scope from the pier, and go for a drive up to mount Stromlo for a night.
