To be honest Baz, with Nebulae, you can always go longer. There is never a limit. It just depends on what kind of image you are after. Some nebulae lose detail though if exposed too long, others reveal hidden treasures when exposed for longer. Your stuff looks great, but it comes down to what you are chasing I think.

You could probably go a lot longer on that picture Barry. The pillars look good.
