Ray

Ray, I'm shooting with the ED 80. The F ratio is 7.5 which is the ratio for that scope and will always be.

Maybe I should put that in my signature? I post on 15 forums and a lot don't copy paste-easily so I have to enter the details manually every time. It takes me hours to do the lot sometimes. I wonder if there is an easier way, like "Send all" in emailing.

Your thoughts?:hmm:

well done Baz.:welldone:

All in one night? you must have been up all night.:thumbsupmate:

Yuor 400d is un-modded i asume , from what i understand the ir filter is really not letting the cmos sensor detect the Ha (red) to its full extent, hence the mainly blue hue to the NGC2070 . Maby Shevill can shed some more light on this subject, As to weather they can be modified.
As i am getting a 400d soon ,would be interested to hear his Thoughts.

Great effort and thanks for the NGC253 image...good to see a comparison.

Yes Patrick....I started at 2030hr was up until 0615hr. The magpies warbling on the front lawn were my cue to o to bed. Got up at 1000hr, had visitors, took the bike for new tyres, pulled a roof off a house, had dinner with friends and hit the sack again at just after midnight. I AM STUFFED!:duh:

Hi Baz,

Going great guns there with your 400D, good to see. They can be modified to replace the low cut filter, various firms do it in the USA & the place I had mine done in Korea. The difference is 26% Ha with the unmodified to 90 odd % with the Baader IR/UV replacement.

Been too busy to use my modified (Peltier cooled & Filter replacement) 350D and I need to finish the OctaDome the new system will reside in.

Keep up the good work Baz,

Clear skies...

Thanks Shevill.

Lots of questions now...lol:eartoear:

Is this easy to do yourself?
How is it done?
What does it do?
How is it better?
How does it affect normal daytime photography?
How much does it cost?
Is it safe for the camera?
Who is trustworthy?
Does it affect warranty on the new 400D?:hmm: :duh:

I'm betting your pretty busy with the eclipse aftermath, so I will be patient with your answers mate.

Baz.

Hi Baz,

Here is a link which outlines the proceedure on a 350D, it is more involved with a 400D.

Yes, it does negate your camera warranty.

Yes, you can still do daylight photography.

It is a highly skilled task in an ultra clean room.

I had my 350D done here: http://www.centralds.net

And a D50 full spectrum done here:

One of these YEARS I'll get a telescope with tracking and only then will I appreciate the effort and skill involved in this kind of imaging.

Well done Baz!
