Well got to get out to the Observatory last night and take a lrgb image of the Lagoon Nebula .
Was experimenting with the drizzle software for high resolution pictures, eg:drizzle resolution set at 200, pixel fraction set at .80. in the envisage software.
each frame was about 10Mb in size:duh:
Exposures where short, i wanted to see what i could get out of it, for the time of the short exposures.
11.3 seconds each for L R G B x10stacked each.
12in lx90 alt/az mounted
Hope you like it.
As an after thought i put a comparison (before/after) image to show what i started with.

Hi Pat,
Great image for such short exposures, how does this compare with Ray's film in terms of time? Can one still buy film or is it to special order I wonder?
Jokes aside, you must be very pleased with your results, which can only get better with experience. This would have been 'mind blowing' 10 years ago, now it is in everyone's reach.

Thank Shevill , just wanted to see what could be gotten from a minimum exposure time with the dsi2 pro,, and its amazing how much detail is hidden in the short exposures.
I usually expose for 30 sec to 1min alt/az if direction allows, so this was a good experiment.:pipethinker:

Hey Pat,
That is a lot of detail for such a short exposure time. How exactly does the drizzle software work?
The before and after image speaks a thousand words.

Hi Ray,
Thanks to a fellow astronomer in the USA, Stephen P Hamilton, a real top gun aviator, here is all you need to know about Drizzle:

Posted without permission, however, I will send Stephen a link to what I have posted from his site.

Hi Ray,
I see that Pat has had the same idea, so you have a spot of reading to do!!
It is too much to explain on a forum, we need a resource like this, Reviews, Articles, How to etc.
I have just emailed Stephen with a link back to myastrospace post of his material. It might well be worth asking these fellows if we can post their article links to build up a data source? an email from the site master perhaps?

Hi Shevill,
Thanks to you and Pat for posting those links. It helps explain a lot - though I will need to read them a few times to get them to stay in my head :duh: .
I know Ray has been planning a "How To" section for us - so maybe if we keep pestering him he will get around to it . I know that we have a lot of members who could contribute to such a page.
Cheers Colin
P.S. Whilst driballing along like that I forgot to say what a fantastic shot Pat

Thanks Patrick, glad to be here. By the way, back to your original thread here, your Lagoon image is terrific, excellent processing.

Great image Pat, It's amazing to see the difference of the before processing image in comparison to the final result. :thumbsupmate:

Thanks for the kind words Steven , Mick.
Not bad for 11.3sec subs.
