Just Wanted To Know The Best Way To Clean Eye Pieces ? :hmm:

I use a very soft dry cloth. Also a cloth that doesn't leave residue. Tissues are no good because they leave little dust particles. I try and stay away from cleaning fluids, because if the fluid leaks down the side of the eyepiece it could then leak in between the lenses.
It also depends on what you are trying to clean off. If it is just loose dust, then a soft dry cloth should be fine, but if there is some kind of stubborn residue on the lens, then distilled water or some other kind of cleaning fluid may be needed.

Hmm, I don't really have any pre determined method. But what Radar has said pretty much is what I would do. :pipethinker:

Thanks for the advice Radar
I Went to the local camera shop and purchased some soft cloths and a
hurricane blower.
and got some distilled water.

blower brushes from camera shops for the dust.NEVER use tissues, modern tissues have some extremely hard fibres that will scratch those expensive eyepieces and specatcle lenses.Use a microfibre cloth as used for spectacles(wash these reasonably frequently) Breathing on glass for a very fine moisture layer then wipe with cloth gently before it evaporates. Note, i have heard that fluorite elements or coating will be affected by moisture. Greasy marks will need specialist lens cleaning fluid, best obtained from telescope retailer. Note, dust must be blown off before any wiping with microfibre cloth.

I have been a professional medical microscope user & amateur astronomer since whenever, so I am very used to cleaning very, very expensive optics. For years I have used with total success, the readily available domestic "Windex", a blue coloured liquid glass cleaner. Do not use imitation brands
Blow off any obvious particles then spray a little onto paper towel or cotton wool and wipe in a circular motion from centre out. If still some streaks, repeat, always with a clean bit of paper. I have cleaned my plastic trifocal eye glasses like this for years as well as all my telescope lenses, cover plates, solar filters etc.
With large optical surfaces I spray it on, leave a minute or so to loosen particles (Meade corrector plate on my 10" SN).
Some tissues work OK but most have whitener chemicals added, which leave traces of stuff behind, "Kimwipes" green & white box, are also a proven optical lens tissue even though it feels rough on the nose, it is perfect on lenses, they are also fluffless.
It works supremely well.
