Hi All,

Jerry Lodriguss, of astro imaging and astro author fame, has just added a section to his book regarding how important the choice of a mount is if you are even thinking about astrophotography.

A MUST read:http://www.astropix.com/HTML/I_ASTROP/MOUNTS.HTM

Soooo many newcomers ask me for advice on astrophotography and equipment, and are stunned when I start talking basic scopes, mounts and costs, a total budget of $500, sadly, does not cut it- (my opinion). The leap from visual to photographic quality is, well, huge!!!.....

Read, and gain a valuable insight from an expert in the field - and enjoy.

PS. Here is a mount that would make a hole in the piggy bank?
Takahashi EM-3500 Temma-2 400x Observatory GOTO Mount

and just look at the 17% cost saving. wow!

Yeah Shev, the mount has to be overkill. Jerry is right on the money (as always).

Thanks for the link shevill

That is one heavy duty mount. If you got it what scope would you put on it ?

Hi,

Something that cost about the same as the mount I guess!

Dream on.......................in my dreams!

Thanks for that link re suitable mounts Shevill.

The Orion SkyView Pro Mount that came with my ED80 just scrapes in at the bottom of the list, so I might have to start saving for something more appropriate for astrophotography. Think I'll pass up the offer of saving 17% on the Tak mount though!
