Hi to all
I've only just joined this forum at the invitation of Ray Palmer. To start things off, here's a "2 in 1" image of the globular cluster NGC 6752

Hope you like it.

G'day Steve,
Glad you eventually made it onto the site.
For those that don't know, I met Steve at the David Malin Awards. Steve is an accompished astrophotographer. He's been shooting the stars for more than two decades. Steve has some serious kit as you will see. Shoots from Canberra.
Reason I like that photo Steve is because of the colour balance. Beautiful light blue and yellow stars really works well in my opinion.
Cheers

Hi Stevec,
Welcome to the site and a nice friendly group of all astro enthusiasts.
I like your cluster image, I wondered why it was so good, so looked at the camera & scope details, then picked myself up off the floor, hard to beat top gear and its results.
Look forward to seeing more from your magic machines!
Clear skies...

Steve
Any chance of sending in a hi-res copy for our mag?

Thanks for all the kind comments about my NGC 6752 image. I don't know if everyone realised but when you click on the first image you get a wide field version taken about a year ago. It's not in the same orientation though.
Cheers

Just clicked the image to view the widefield version Steve. Very nice mate.
Not sure if this is noise, but there appears to be a very very dim reflection nebula on the left of the image. I'll check out some other images of this object and see what I can find out about this potential nebula.

Hi Ray
The nebulosity to the left is definitely real. It's part of a relatively recently discovered complex of faint dust in the area that actually is made visible by reflected light from the milky way. This stuff is all over the sky and is particularly prominent in the neighbourhood of the northern hemisphere galaxies M81 and M82. It's sometimes called "interstellar cirrus" and David Malin was one of the pioneers in photigraphing it.

Gidday Steve and welcome to the site.
Those images are very nice, and Shevill is right, the kit will always make a difference. Very, very nice work.

It turns out I have been talking to Steve here and didn't realise until today, that he is the same guy I have met and spoken to on a number of occasions in person. Steve and I had a great chat today about imaging, space missions etc. He is an accomplished astrophotographer and great to pick his brains on all manner of space stuff.
Thanks for today Steve.
