Hmmm...I must be missing something.
My eyepieces should all work ok in the ED80, regardless of whether they are 12 mm or 40mm, plossl or otherwise shouldnt they?
I have wound the focusser all the way out and the focus stops short of full focus.
When I pull the eyepiece out all the way until it is about 5 to 10mm out of the holder, it is focused.
What am I not doing right?
Baz.

Not sure about this Baz, i have an 80ED myself (skywatcher) and use eyepieces from 6mm to my 2" 32mm and they all focus excellently.
Couldn't think what the problem is, but if it is like computers, it will be something infuriatingly obvious. :ahh!:
I am sure their will be someone with a lot more knowledge than me soon enough to solve your problem mate :thumbsupmate: .......

This is strange Baz. What eyepieces exactly is doing this? Or is it all of them?
If its all of them, sounds like the secondary lens has moved, if it is just one of your eyepieces, the issue will be with that eyepiece. Maybe an element has moved.
Keep us posted.

hi there Baz,
One question , are you still using a diagonal in the setup?
If not ,, put it back in, it should work.

Hi Baz,
The clue is when you said it needs to come out another X distance. That distance is normally ocupied by the diagonal, so once you put the diagonal back everything works OK.
However, if you need to use an EP or web cam without the diagonal, you will need an extension tube of about 50mm. (not critical longer is better than shorter.) Some people use a cheap Barlow lens and rip the useless bits of glass out etc, and lo & behold, you have exactly what you need. They are also made and supplied by many firms. I make my own extension tubes.

The star diagonal seems to make absolutely no difference.
I fixed the problem though. I got on the lathe with some aircraft grade aluminium and made an extension tube.
Thanks for your efforts gents!
Baz.
