Well i had a bit of luck scrounging some aluminium tubing and plate from work, so i'm well on the way now.
I re-designed the 3d max render, so it should look something like the below image
I was very lucky this week, as our driver was picking up at a local powder coating firm and looked into the aluminium metal merchant across the road and found some scrap tubing :eartoear:
$10 for a 1.2M length :welldone: Enough for at least a half dozen draw tubes :eartoear:
As he was paying for it, their was another chap in also looking for telescope bits:thumbsupmate:

Hi Tony,

I had a look through all my alloy but what I have is too big inner ID with a wall thickness of 10mm!!

It is time I had a trip over to INCAT, they are building their biggest ship yet for a Japanese customer - and all made from Mil spec marine grade alloy from France.

Your project looks very nice, a man after my own heart, building his own gear, a lot of pleasure in that and it makes up for the cloudy nights.

I spent the week-end indoors -fitting Antares Tube Rotator Rings to my SN-10and Tak 180ED. I also did a bit more improvement on the SN-10 as well as cleaning the optics etc. All very satisfying.

Clear skies...
