Okay I have finally got around to processing this image. It still needs some work, but all in all, I'm happy with the colours. These colours were all visible on my slide.
We're looking at a 60 minute exposure (next time 90 minutes) on Kodak Chrome 200.
I call this The Traffic Light Nebula, because lets be honest, who can pronouce (let alone spell) The Rho Ophiuchus Complex.

Golden Grove Col. It got down to 2 degrees during the night. This was taken last Sunday night 17th June.
I shot all night, nothing less than a 60 minute exposure. I was lucky with wind and saw some great fireballs to.
Ended up leaving at around 5.30a.m, got to bed around 6.30a.m.

Hi Ray,
Very nice indeed, but 60 minutes guiding!! now if you went DSLR it would take a lot less time to get the same result, as you know with film, the longer you expose the less you get due to reciprocity failure, wheras digital is free of that problem.
Anyway, you deserve top marks for al all nighter at 2 degrees,
Clear skies...

Yeah I will go DSLR and CCD later this year Shev. I'm really looking forward to it. Film is a good training ground though. I think if you can do long exposures on film, then digital should be no problem.

This region rocks. Well done mate. I would never have the patience to shoot these things, but I really enjoy looking at them.

Ray Hi!
I think that the image should also be put on the beginners forum, to show people what is possible even if they don't have a digital camera or if they want to stay with film etc. I'm certainly looking forward to spending my 60 + minutes getting that inage!

Great work Ray. I greatly admire your dedication, not just to getting images like this but to astronomy/astrophotography in general. You're one of my champions, even if you can't spell Roe Offiyukus, er, Row Offyoucis, ah bugger, the Traffic Light nebula.
