This was my portable set-up until l deceided enough was enough, the entire back of a commodore station wagon just to move it, l'm now building a fork mounted 12" newtonian completely out of aluminium to make things a little easier.

Awesome pier Astrolounge.

The 12inch fork mount (for a newt!) sounds great. I don't think I've seen a newt mounted on a fork before. I imagine you would have to have very wide fork arms to slew it around the sky.

Hi Astrolounge, kool pics.
Is that a 10 or 12 inch?
And why is a pier better than a tripod?

it's a 12" Classic, l personally think they are more stabe with faster dampening times.
mine also has a built in powerboard so it keeps the wiring a lot neater and they can be adapted to take more than one type of scope, mine also has provision to take GEM heads.
