Hi Folks,

Well I have finally bitten the bullet and bought myself a DSLR. A Pentax K100D (it was at the right price). Now the fun learning begins - new camera, new software, new headaches etc etc.

I have attached my first photo a sunset taken from Hillary's Boat Harbour.

Thanks Colin

Well done Draig:welldone: :welldone:

Beautiful sunrises and sunsets are one thing you will never get tired off!!

Now, do you plan on using a telescope with that???:eartoear:

Thanks Pat,

Thats the plan, after the learning curve :duh: .

I'm heading back up to Mt Magnet in a months time for two weeks holiday. Unlike last time, this time there will be photos (and hopefully some of them might even be astro photos). I am hoping to find a mount for it (it still uses the K mount system) so that I can mount it directly to the telescope and take some images that way. Or I might even piggy back mount to my scope and just photos that way for the time being.

Hey Col,

Nice work mate. Are you still going to buy those film cameras?

How do you find the learning curve?

I'll be getting a DSLR soon/ish.

Cheers

Thanks all for your nice comments.

I only got it this afternoon Ray, first thing I did was head to the beach and played with it before the sun went down. Then headed home downloaded the new drivers for Vista and tried to work out Photoshop. - I might have to do a night course on Photoshop - but appart from that it's not to bad.

Cheers Colin

P.S. one day I might upload a photo of myself - only if everyone promises not to run out of their rooms screaming.

That's a good shot for a first use of the camera Colin. Nice 3D effect with clouds and the light rays fanning out from the sun.
