View Full Version : Electric Blankets / Shock?

Hi People,

I'm not sure how this works, but we have an electric blanket in our bed. Both sides have a seperate controller. If I have mine on and my missus has her's off, then if my hand bumps her shoulder we get this weird tingling sensation at the point of contact.

If the missus touches my ear it makes sounds like Luke Skywalkers light saber.

Can anyone shed any light on what is happening and is this dangerous?

If I suddenly stop posting you'll know what happened to me. :duh:

Cheers

Ray

I just took a break from the magazine production and popped in to see how things were going ... then I saw this post.

Great Scott! - Raymond dear chap. You worry me. You should remove this potentially lethal covering poste haste because if you don't you won't be needing your telescope mate - you'll be 'up there' looking at this stuff in real time!!

Thanks for the feedback guys. The nights are to cold to be turning this beauty off at the moment.

Here is my reasoning - if it were dangerous surely I would have felt an electric shock by now or seen a big blue spark.

Is it possible that because I'm lying on a big coil of wire with electricity going through it that a magnetic field or something similar is being created and when I touch something with the opposite polarity that this magnetism is simply being transfered?

I'm gonna google this -

Okay I'm back -

Here are some links -

These poeple have exactly the same problem, though it worries me that the guy that posted this never responded to the replies, lol :hmm:

This guy never responded to the replies either, there could be a patern emerging here.

Magnetism? Induction?
