Three men go to a restaurant for a meal. They receive a bill for $25. They each put $10 on the table (total of thirty dollars), which the waiter collects and takes to the till. The waiter returns with a saucer with five $1 coins on it(the change).
The three men couldn't divide the five $1 coins evenly amongst themselves, so they gave the waiter a two dollar tip and then each took back one dollar each.
So, the five one dollar coins on the saucer have now all been taken. $2 went to the waiter as a tip, and each one of the guys took a dollar back.
Now that each guy has taken a dollar back, each of the guys has paid $9 (instead of the original ten).
Now, here is where it gets tricky, three 9's are 27, plus the two dollar tip is $29, where did the
missing dollar go?
:hmm:
Food Bill - $25
Paid - $30 (each giving a ten dollar note each).
Change - $5 (in coins)
A dollar change each means they paid - $9 each
Tip to waiter - $2
3 x 9 = 27 + 2 tip = 29?
Woot! :pipethinker:
