Did this one last night.

10 x 30 second light frames at ISO 1600, 10 x darks removed, stacked and processed in deep sky stacker.

Celestron Nexstar 11, equatorial wedge alignment, Canon 400D, prime focus on a waxing gibbous moonlit night. Also used one of those ambient light filters on the camera adaptor. The resulting shot was a little darker, but way more detailed.

Removing the darks seems to have made all the difference.

Conversley, I opend the shutter on the same target and just let the telescope go with it's own tracking for fifteen minutes. (Fell asleep) Have a go at what it did! (Second image) I have no idea how to refine this tracking. I'm thinking when I get the ED80 on top, I will have to guide manually.

Hi Baz, nice work, you can see the colours starting to come through. It's always a buzz to get some nebulosity in the pic. What kind of light pollution filter are you using?

Any long exposure astrophotography has to be tracked Baz, no matter how good your mount is. Manual guiding is a good way to start rather than autoguidng straight away.

Once you get the guiding part sorted, the skies the limit, pun intended

Nice work Baz. Corel Draw? I've never heard of that being used for processing before.

What kind of light pollution filter are you using?

Cheers

Sorry Ray, its a ALP 1.25" made in Japan. It just screws to the front of my camera adaptor. All I can tell you is that to look at the glass, it changes colour when you tilt it in the light sort of purple, green, gold....
