For a long time I've wanted to see what's in the Digitized Sky Survey for M13... Ideally I wanted to create a very, very deep image that shows virtually all of the hundreds of thousands of stars in M13. I think I've accomplished that goal.
The DSS data, originally taken on photographic plates some decades ago, is very good as usual but for one small flaw: The core of this fairly bright object is completely overexposed to white. Not wanting to give up on the project, I added in my own (much shallower) high focal length M13 exposures, and voila: A super-deep image resolved (well, kind of) to the core.
This is a 1 degree square field from red and blue POSS-II plates, synthetic green channel courtesy my actions, plus core data from my own exposures. Click on the image to see a high resolution version (warning, large file).
