Hi All,
I had one of those rare clear breaks in the cloud, wind & rain a couple of nights back - and as I stood outside my front porch looking east, a beautiful site, especially with Jupiter and Antares so prominent. There was still some thin haze, so not totally transparent - and in some shots faint patches of cloud became visible.
Canon 350D (the modified one - no cooling used), just a straight 30-second shot with the camera tripod mounted, using a Nikkor 16mm f/2.8D lens in manual mode at f/2.8, and rated at 1600ISO.
The OctaDome has a huge heavy plastic sheet over the open top - I need calm dry days to work on the roof petals, which will be a tedious job single handed.
Also preparing astro material for my astronomy display stand at the Antarctic Midwinter Festival. Check out this link. http://www.antarctic-tasmania.info/
As well as my display booth, I will be one of the speakers in the science section - my topic is the Aurora Australis - to fit into the Antarctica theme.
Clear skies...
