I took this shot in August 06. I played with it in photoshop a bit more the other night, I think it looks much better now.

Yeah Col I do use Noel's actions. Not sure if I used them on this image here though. I'm still learning all the ins and outs of them.
Cheers

Thanks Jim. I love this image because it's the only time we're ever gonna see into the centre of a spiral galaxy. I try and explain this image to people sometimes (I have it on my wall). I try to tell them that this is how a spiral galaxy looks from one of it's own spiral arms, I go to tell them that if we could move upward a few million light years and look back, we would see a spiral structure, but I usually get a blank stare. :duh:
I love the central bulge in our galaxy, it's full of action. Imagine living within a light year or two of The Eagle Nebula or Eta Carina Nebula. The night sky, instead of being black with stars, would be all kinds of bright beautiful gaseous colours. Currently, when buying real estate home owners may opt to buy something with a sea or country view. A few thousands years from now, real estate agents may be selling land on exoplanets with a sales pitch like -
"Buy now! This fully automated home comes on an impressive exoplanet, with it's own double star system, great views of the horsehead nebula and orion nebulaes (within one light year) and within your own personal spaceship cruising distance to the nearest worm hole for convenience, don't miss out on this great bargain, call Captain B.Rogers now at Space Estate on -

Okay, I may have gotten a little of topic then.
