Greg (wingeingpom) and I have been working for a while on a wide field image of the M101 area. It's finally finished.

Here's a combination of a bit less than 10 hours of exposure time through Greg's f/4.5 Sky-90 and f/1.85 Hyperstar setups, using two different cameras (SXVF-M25C and SXV-H9C) over the course of a year.

The entire image, downsized:

An unresized crop from the image:

Here's a version with a chart overlaid, to show where to look for galaxies:

Finally, a negative version:

Impressive work Noel / Greg. Always a pleasure to look at.

Any idea what the faintest magnitude galaxy is in that photo?

Cheers

Thanks. :)

Not really, but there are a fair number that don't appear on any of the charts I have loaded in Cartes du Ciel.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, and nice processing Noel!! We sure did capture a lot of faint fuzzies in that one.

If any of you guys is into photometry/astrometry I would be extremely grateful if you could tell me what the faintest object you can see in (any) of our images is - this will give me very valuable calibration information.

All the best,
Greg
