Does anyone know what a Super Position is?
No, it is not a managerial job coming up at the Hubble Telescope Control centre (even though that would be a super position).
In quantam physics and string theory, there is now evidence that something can exist in two places at once.

Governments are pouring billions of dollars into this research.
If you are into Physics or fringe science you should keep up with Cern.

So anyway back to super positions.
All of us have heard stories about something which scientists are now saying was simply super positions at work.
Anyone care to offer what kind of situations may involve super positions?
:hmm:

Nope, does anyone else?
(though people might have missed this radar. I wanted to know about it too so i thought that id bring it back up:biggrin: )

Is this when the Missus say's she's seen my truck parked down at the pub, when actually it's never left my work?:pipethinker:
But Seriously...
Here is a very interesting read on "super-position", makes for some interesting conversation.

Seems like this could work in several areas of the applied sciences...

Very possible.

This field of science (quantum mechanics) is going to become the most dominating form of science there is. Quantum Mechanics is so strange that anyone even trying to explain it is going to get lost down the rabbit hole of unending possibilities.
Quantum Mechanics is simply the science of possibilities.
Everything exists in the state of super positions (a state of unlimited potential and unlimited possibilities). It's only when we try to observe the natural world that a super position collapses itself onto one and presents itself to us as this rigid reality that we live in. Now you might be thinking "what has Ray been smoking", but to get a better grasp of just how cutting edge Quantum Mechanics is, watch these clips -

With the next clip, which demonstrates super positions, research now shows that when electron's are observed they behave differently. This is how super positions collapse in on themselves when consciousness observes.

This is a very interesting experiment as well. The implications of this for mankind are huge. This is all based on very real experiments done by professionals.

The doco "Down The Rabbit Hole" goes into the actual experiments and how they were done.
All these clips are from two documentaries that come highly recommended. Anyone that hasn't seen the documentaries What the Bleep Do We Know and Down The Rabbit Hole yet should really put these DVD's on their to do list. It will turn your understanding of science and the universe upside down.
There is a ton of other clips on youtube there. If your brains haven't been fried too much already, check out some of the other stuff from those doco's.
Cheers

lol, yes I must admit, super positions didn't seem to grab people's attention at first, so thanks for rekindling this thread mate  .
Super Positions are one of the most exciting things happening in science right now, I wish more people knew about them.

Ray,
Right now the only position I know I am in is 'super confused'......I am still struggling with Newton.
The DVD titles you suggest appear in Amazon as follows..do I need both (ie plus perfect partner) or just the boxed set?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/What-Bleep-Down-Rabbit-Hole/dp/B000GPPPYA/ref=pd_bxgy_d_h__text_b?ie=UTF8&qid=1201269981&sr=1-1
Could this Quantum theory answer the question all we guys have pondered ie, what happens to all those odd socks that the washing machine loses, and why not pairs......or does it prove it, in that my other self is also wearing odd socks. :hmm: :hmm:

You need the perfect partner Gyro. Watch "What the Bleep do We Know" first. In all honestly, I probably watched What the Bleep 10 times before I watched Down the Rabbit Hole. You'll see what I mean when you see it.

Your socks only exist as a sea of potential realities inside of cosmic super position. Once your consciouness focuses on where your missing socks are, all realities collapse onto one,,,,instead of two, and this is why you can only find one sock.

So for the close calls I've had in life - and lived to tell about it. Do I have an alter ego who has died?
Does that mean that I can take any number of risks with impunity, as my consciousness will remain in whatever flavor of universe contains the me that has survived?
Is all this my dream in which you and everyone else are figments of my imagination?
