Thanks to Optus, sending me a promo offering old Compaq laptops which run on XP I have found the VGA driver to run the Compaq Turion F503AU Vista laptop on XP, with full support for the NVidia 6100 chipset
This driver concerned is for the COMPAQ PRESARIO V3118AU, but... It uses the NVidia GeForce go 6100 VGA chipset The file number on HP web site is SP33549 So I gave HP another visit.
I downloaded it and opened the file and it said that it could not find any drivers to suit my hardware. Yeh OK .. So I went into Device manager to the VGA drivers sitting there with a dirty great yellow jug handle. Opened the driver control and did a manual re-install of drivers. Search for drivers... Advanced... It fought me all the way saying it could cause my system to fail, by now I am getting desperate... So merrily carry on , clicking next next etc, got an unsigned driver note, so what .. Click yes. The the screen went blank, flashed, went blank then in all its glory was the the 1208 x 800 screen.
Did the usual checks in properties and there sitting in the Monitor panel is the NVidia GeForce Go set up. Rechecked with the Device manager no nasty little yellow jug handles. Checked the video... Magic.
I now have to go and buy me that case of tinnies I offered. Just had to share this after all the traumas in preceding messages.
So once again for the lads Get the file SP33549 from HP manually install by clicking on the found .INF file.
:welldone: :thumbsupmate: :eartoear: :cool!:  :yesplease:
