Did you end up getting one Shev. I remember there was some discussion a while back where one was being sent out to you. Just curious how well it performed.

Hi Radar,
I did in fact receive one of the latest Canadian made Mallincam colour video camera, which covers solar system objects right through to long exposure deep sky for live viewing on TV.
I am waiting until I have finished my various re-hashing telescopes & electronic systems, before testing it. And I need some clear skies!!!
I have various cameras and equipment stacking up waiting for review!!
This camera is very different to the Imaging Source Firewire cameras.

Live viewing on TV sounds good Shev. I'd be interested to hear how this camera performs. Keep me posted please mate.

I can't wait for the report on this one. I've heard that the GSTAR-EX is a Mallincam. Can anyone verify this for me?
Cheers,
Duncan:thumbsupmate:

Hi Duncan,
The GStar and the Mallincam series are not the same.
http://www.myastroshop.com.au/guides/gstar/index.htm#SPECIFICATIONS
The Mallincam's are individually hand built with pre-tested and selected components-all A1 grade CCD's. Each camera is built & tested with special circuitry, by Rock Mallin. They also feature TEC (thermo electric cooling). Also they have extended integration times of 7, 14, 28 and 56 seconds. They also cost more.
I have the Mallincam Hyper Plus Colour. http://mallincam.tripod.com/

Hi Shevill,
Thanks for the info, looks like one hell of a camera. Out of my price range for the moment. I might start off with the Gstar and use it as a learning curve first i think.
Cheers,
Duncan
