Red Screen Software

Does anyone know a good program for turning a computer into red screen mode?

There are a few of these on the market which are free (did that make sense). Dark Apdapted is one of them. Some Laptops won't work with it though, because the software needs to be able to make gamma corrections, and some video cards on laptops don't allow it.
