For those of you who might be using a Mac with Macam to operate a webcam, or anything else at night, one thing that is always a pain in the proverbial is the lack of application-wide night vision mode (unless you have StarryNight or some other planetarium package that has it built in).

Not any more - for Mac OSX:

Excellent bit of kit. Enjoy!

Thanks Chris, I've been hunting for Mac software to do all I need it to in astronomy. I am currently trialing ScopeDriver to control my Meade LX200 (which has night vision built in) and seems to work ok. Finding Mac software is a challenge.
Cheers,
Ben.

NightVision is useful for astronomers and others who need to preserve dark adaptation while using the computer. NightVision controls the three gamma channels (red, green, and blue) independently. It also provides full control over preset gamma settings, fade rate, and bailout keys.

When I use my iPhone in the dark, outdoors at night, or something similar, it's way too bright and destroys my ability to see in the dark for several minutes after.Good, be aware that when you use a converter box to convert to DV, you will need a fire wire port on your computer.

The newer Intel based Macs (MacBooks etc.) will not run MacOs 9 which was an option on the PPC type Macs from several years ago. MacOs X is designed to work on either of the models.
