Ladies and gents,
there is yet another DIY on the A.S.I.G.N. Observatory website. It's a rail and ring mount for a piggyback telescope, on top of your main scope.

In this case I have selected an APO ED 80, with a 90mm diameter OTA, but the dimensions can be changed to suit any size scope.

The job is about 3/4 of the way through and I should have it finished by the end of the week.

Hi Barry,

Very neat, now all you need is that T-Adaptor and attach your DSLR for some very nice wide shots. Use the C11 as the guide scope.

You may also need a photo extension tube to get enough OUT travel to use the DSLR. My WO refractors do.

I now make my own as I bought some 2" & 11/4" OD aircraft grade aluminium tubing from the USA. I can now make 2" to 1.25" extenders to suit whatever I need. All I have to set up now is my anodising line to do the gold anodising on all my home made parts. I have all the equipment, chemicals & dyes - just need some more time!!!

A lot of fun to be had in this hobby, as you have found yourself.

Clear skies...

Hi folks,

I have just completed the "Average Handyman" version of DIY scope rings.

Have a look at the step-by-step instructions and photos.

The advanced version is still in the machine and yet to be completed. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for the advice there Shevill, I have been looking into it. An ED80 is next on the list.

I like the way you came about naming your Observatory.
