Because I'm getting into CCD imaging soon, I'm curious what programs people here use to capture CCD images.
I know Maxim and CCD Soft are popular, but what other ones are out there? And why are certains programs maybe better than others?
I'm probably going to practise with my ST4 first, so the images I take will be pretty basic to start off with.
Cheers

Hi Radar,
I have tried many programs but the one I think is the best value for money is Images Plus, by Mike Unsold. As well as a dedicated astro software program it also has various camera operating controls. A set of tutorial CD's is also available. The software is constantly being up-graded and added to, both the processing side and the cameras it can control. It is perfect for DSLR's or cooled CCD's with their big image files.
Everyone has their favourite and some have features that others do not have, which may suit you better, for whatever reason. Also, Adobe Photoshop is nearly always used for the final finish, especially with Noels' "Actions" for Photoshop.
There are programs out there at all price points and capabilities. What i suggest is to download a trial of what appeals to you and give it a good work out.
Very good value for money and not expensive: Images Plus would be a good trial start, also software from Graig Stark labs, IRIS (Free but with a 'learning curve!).
Other members will also add their comments to help you get well informed.
Clear skies...
