hey radar,, just did 2 different ways in photoshop,1st one was to process the r,g,b,l all seperately then combine.
2nd one was all combined first then processed as a group.
Mainly curves and levels ,unsharp masks and gausian blur.

Thanks Colin, just happy to be able to show some of the group at the party how to do it , some of them have had cameras in the box from new , tried it once and gave up so i bet some have another go soon.
its can be hard if it doesent go your way the first time.

What program were you using to capture the AVI Pat? And was it barlowed? I imagine a 12 inch LX90 would pack quite a bit of light, so I imagine barlowing it to reduce the brightness may have been involved. :hmm:

Nup Radar, not an avi,,,just straight capture pics stacked on the fly by meades camera software. Iwas using Meades LPI (lunar and planetary imager) on my 12in at f10 (no barlow just straight into scope).
the lpi really is good at planetary work. :pipethinker:

yes it does Tony, under a clear dark steady sky, but with no color.
The 12in lx90 keeps amazing me. We where looking at it with a 20mm wide field eyepiece ,looks great.

Hi Pat,
I was looking at Jupiter last night, I started with my 38mm eyepiece and it looked great. I then went to 10mm and even tried a 5mm but it was that unsteady with a 5mm that I went back up to the 10mm. Like you my little 8" keeps amazing me with what I can see and the quality of the image.
One of these days (soon I hope) I will try astrophotography.

Hey Pat are you using a 12 inch? And any particular coloured filter to see those details?

Gidday Pat. Lovely images.
I can see I'll have to be really nice to the exchequer (the boss, she-who-must-be-obeyed, the cheese and kisses!) to see if I can get a 'scope that sucks in more light. Might have to stop eating for a few months to help with saving the dough!

Yes Radar my old chap :pipethinker: , it is through the 12in lx90,:thumbsupmate: no barlow , nothing filter wise, just the 12inlx90 with a 12mm celestron plossl eyepiece which at f10 (3048mm fl) gives me 254x magnification. just beautiful, dont go too high on the mags unless the seeing is really steady. Bye the way the LPI from meade excels at planetry work.:eartoear:

Hi Patrick
Nice images, well done.
The LPI is a great imager - I have been using it for years with my LX90 8"and love it.
You mentioned that you did not use a barlow - have you tried?
Thanks for sharing.

Hi there Matt , yes i have , but the seeing was no good on that night to utilize the 3048cm fl X 2 (with barlow).
The 12in lx90 is a long ,long focal length, conditions affect it.
Thanks for the reply , have u any pics taken through the 8" at f10, be intresting to see the difference in mags at f10 of the 2 scope sizes.
Clear skies

Hello Patrick
I was unable to find any prime focus images but I have included some from my LX90, 2xbarlow and LPI. I have a raw image - I process in Registax and increase size by 150% - and two of my better processed images.
We only get a few really good seeing nights here in Brisbane but I will be out again tonight to snap Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon.
See ya
