That's a very nicely resolved image Phil. Well done.

Stunning Phil! What does 2x2 bin mean? I know very little about CCD stuff.

Thanks guys Radar 2x2bin is when you bin the pixel on your camera. My camera has 9x9mirco pixels when bin they are 18x18 this gives me 3.4 arcesec/pix. Also i get better sensitivity at this longer focal length when shoting threw the 2x powermate.

Hi Phil,

What a great shot. :welldone: .

But I am afraid you lost me with your explaination of 2x2 bin :duh: .
Just goes to show how much I have to learn about this astrophotography business. And I haven't even got a camera yet.

Cheers Colin

Hi Phil,

Very nice image of our best globular cluster, it just shows what using top equipment can achieve, question: what mount are you using and what exposure?

Just curious about the faint twin little wrinkle lines around the stars? What causes that effect?

Hope we get some decent skies this winter, last year was a total waste for me.

Clear skies...

The exp. was only 2mins each channel LRGB the mount G11 and the stars i don't no what you are talking about all i can say the compression has stuff it up a bit to get a size photo i can show you guys.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the info. Yes, it could well be jpeg compression artifact, you are having to reduce it from a pretty big image size. Only seen when looking very close-up.

Thanks for sharing,

Clear skies...

The Tiff ver. of this photo is 60meg 4008x2672 pixels now thats big. Justs shows how much i have to crop compress to get then on the web.

Like Colin, I'm totally lost with your explanation of 2x2 bin (and also realising how much I have to learn). Am I right in thinking it's some sort of artificial amplification or magnification?

Very nice image Phil, have you imaged 47 tuc? Would be interested to see both on that scale with your equipment.

Wow, that's beautiful! REALLY nice job!

We can *just* see this cluster from Florida, though it's low to the horizon. Personally I've never been at the right place at the right time (of day and year) to see it in person, but a friend of mine in Florida named Joe Mize has also done a nice image of Omega Centauri with his STL-11000.
