I hope this doesn't count as cheating because I submitted this image once before in the image gallery forum. This little group in the SMC, NGC 456, 460 and 465, are all cataloged in the NGC as open clusters although they are better known for the nebulosity. In any case, legitimate or not, it's quite a pretty area of the sky.

Cheers

Steve

Good luck on finding anything with Google. There doesn't seem to be much documentation on this area.

Awesome pic Steve, good luck to you also for POM. For me personally, so far, this is my choice as winning shot. As with the other entries so far, this is another target I am yet to view. I love this comp as it gives me a great list of targets to view and one day eventually get a pic of my own. Keep 'em coming people, and good luck to the judges.

Steve,

Let's not call it "cheating" - just not aware of the rules?

It was my understanding that any images submitted had to be actually taken during the month of competition (hence "Image of the Month") The idea being to challenge people with a time and target constraint - Radar, or other judges may of course correct me if I'm mistaken.

The "Image of the Week" can be taken any time during the last "year" - and we have picked several that were "re-processed" (and resubmitted) - choosing the image due to the quality of the re-process.

Of course it goes without saying that we have to use the honor system for both "competitions" ..... thank you for being honest and concerned!!

Cheers,

Lon

Thanks guys. Lon, I wasn't really aware of the precise rules but I suspected it was something like you say.

For what it is worth this is a nice image of this region.

Thanks - didn't have much else to compare it with. Seems to be rather neglected.
