Much again my better judgment, I allowed my son to clean up my Compaq 500 series Pressario laptop which ran all my programs in XP with no hassles.
He installed Win7 X64 and threw in some extra RAM. He has this thing about you have to be up to date with the world, despite telling him many of the Astro programs were all written for X32 OS/XP.
Of course this has really thrown the spanner in the works because Canon in their usual fashion do not make drivers for the 350D to run on 64 bit systems.
Personally I am getting really fed up with the attitude of these big companies who are very ready to grab your cash and then dump you when the item is over a couple of years old.
There are ways around it of course by transferring files from the CF cards, but that's not the point. Windows 7 just will not recognise the EOS 350D, therefore none of the Utilities will work. Try getting any info out of Canon and you reach a solid brick wall.
I guess the only any is to rip all this new crap off the computer and go back to XP for which I have all the original drivers I found for it.
Wonder if any one else has had these problems with other models and makes??
