View Full Version : M67 - Open Cluster in Cancer, Greg/Noel

M67 is a nice big open cluster in Cancer. My chief collaborator, Greg Parker, shot this on March 10, and I've finally gotten around to processing it.
30 subs at 420 seconds each (3.5 hours total) with Starlight Xpress SXVF-M25C RGB camera, on Takahashi Sky-90 with f/4.5 focal length reducer.
I'm presenting it in two different versions here - one full field downsized shot, showing the cluster in a 3+ x 2+ degree field, and one cropped shot, showing the cluster at the full size delivered by the camera. Click on the images to see the high resolution versions.

Or even better, have you ever thought about just coming to Draig's or my house and showing us over a beer?

Thanks for your kind comments!
I would like nothing more than to visit your fine country and you fine folks. Perhaps some day in the future I'll have the means and time to do so.
I'll definitely have to keep my distance from some of those spiders you have down there, though.

P.S., I'm currently working on a picture book, and have already lined up a publisher for an astroimage processing guide to follow.

Hi Noel,
Don't worry about the spiders mate, they don't eat much. We just toss them the odd tourist and they are right again for a couple of days. Don't know what we gonna do if we run of tourists though :hmm: .
Lets us know when your book is due out & I'll order my signed copy straight away.
Cheers Colin

If you grab the big image, negative it and B&W it, I think you'll find 4 asteroids in this shot (unless Noel cloned them out, I haven't checked this image).
