View Full Version : Vixen R200SS and a pentax K10D

just received these little items, I had a very quick setup just to test them. No polar alignment or guiding. the R200SS is F4 focal length 800 and is an 8". When I can get things right I will have some Deep sky shots later. Taken on the EQ6 with V3.12. the only real downside is the Vixen proprietary gear and the rack and pinion focuser, although the sweet spot for focusing is critical a good quality moonlight focuser would be more suited.

Is that a brand newy Dave? I've always had a thing for Vixens, there was this one that lived down the road once, lol. Seriously though, I've read many reviews and they are pretty solid scopes from what I have heard. Did you get a carry case with it?

No it was second hand, virtually brand new though, bought from Astro Optical in january and I got it just this week at a good price. The only downer for the scope is that there are no standard parts with the focuser, its all proprierary. I need to geta 2" adapter for it, but the scope comes with a coma corrector

it was sirius -thats so serious, for a r& p focuser will suffice for the moment. I have ordered a wide camera adapter and a 2" adapter from tasco for vixen parts
