I was up at the Gin Gin Discovery Centre on the weekend. It is also a gravity wave observatory.

I used three different types of film, Fuji Provia 400X for the deep space stuff, kodak elite chrome 100 for the first two wide fields and then kodak gold 100 for the wide field posted below.

I'm undecided on all these films. I think there is excessive noise and the red response is not as good as I'd like.

The glob is 47 Tucanae. The silver coin galaxy has a finger print up the top left, there is no extra charge for that. The wide field stuff shows the leaning tower of Gin Gin and the Geodesic Dome (cosmology centre). It is actually quite an impressive place. The tower is quite large.

Reason the star trails in the two last images seem to have dark patches is because of scattered cloud.

This shot was taken with kodak gold 100. Very noisy. Lack of colour in the stars.

Hey Ray, gave the ole cam a good workout I see...

47 Tucanae is a nice shot. Seems a bit "smoother" than B33 or Ngc253 for some reason? The first two wide-fields are awesome. I agree with you on the last shot.

Cheers

Notwithstanding any of your reservations Ray I love these film emulsion shots you do.....they have this "painterly" aspect to them imho.....and I suppose speaking as a professional artist as well as an AA'er I guess my thoughts are not entirely superfluous....!:smile::yesplease: :thumbsupmate:

Thanks guys, it was good to fire up the film cameras again and get to work. These films are not my preferred films. In fact my preferred films for astrophotography have been discontinued,,,,,,so I've stocked up
