hey guys....found a real good site 3/4 of a mile from my apartment, some
middle school soccer field........nice and dark though......i tried to get as many pics in as i could, but it was 3 degrees out.....and my fingers only lasted
about an hour and a half. my scope did prove to work a little better after greasing the mount and carefully cleaning the mirrors. i attached some photo's from that night, notice the ghost from the lens in one image. i'm going to buy a new scope, to go on my scope. its the orion apex 127 maksutov....very small and compact....i'm going to use it as a camera lens or a guide scope....i also heard its a great little scope for lunar/planetary work....i would hope with a f/12.1 system.....my question is....can u reduce the f/number with a maksutov like u can an SCT......for faster prime focus exposures. if u want to see more pics and a music video i made, check out

see ya

Hi Joatin,

Great photos, You are lucky to have found a dark sky site so close to where you live.

Good effort Jon. What camera were you using for those?

Yes, Mak's can be reduced. Just check that the Mak you are buying can be reduced to.
