conecting computer to internet,advice needed

We got given old desk top,its 5 years old,never used it on net,got given ethernet card,i installed it got green lights on conection,and router,so hardware,seems correctly put on,

What buttons do i have to press,to get computer on net,?i cant quite figure this out,instructions please!

You need to log into your modem / router using a special IP address. From there you can access all the settings. It is really easy to do, your ISP are the ones that will walk you through it (this is how we do it anyway).

What make and model is your modem? Online support manuals for modems usually have the IP address for logging in.
