Wanted - Skywatcher SW600 8" f/5 Newt - OTA only

Hi all

I'm looking for someone who's possibly looking to upgrade to something larger - and might want to unload their 8" (200mm) f/5 Skywatcher newtonian reflector OTA and standard GSO rings for a reasonable price. I'm specifically looking for a Skywatcher SW600 to match my current one. I'm not after a mount to go with it.

What do I want it for? I'm looking to mate a second one to my current unit and, with some modifications, turn the combined duo into a dual 8" binocular scope. I'd like to do some experimentation with mirror angling mechanics and co-collimation so that I can learn a bit before I tackle the twin 12" version that is coming from Mark Suchting.

Hey Chris, Binocular and Telescope Optical World in WA pretty much only sell SkyWatcher. They are always trading in old for new. I'm heading up that way later, I'll see if they have what you are looking for.

Hi Chris, no luck at the moment. He has them in and out all the time though. I wrote down the model number for him, and he will keep his eyes peeled. Does it have to be second hand? He said new stuff is in next Friday. I told him OTA only, which is fine.

The only reason that I was looking for second hand was that the usual price for new is just a bit more that I want to spend on what is essentially an experiment. Still might be worthwhile if the OTA-only price is reasonable though....
