I took this about a week ago. It is about 15 minutes through my 8" LX50 @
f6.3 looking through an IDAS LPS filter (I have serious LP here).
Film is Kodak Elite Chrome 200.
Manually guided from inside my backyard observatory with a pulseguide illuminator.
I'll try and go longer next time.
Comments welcome.

Hi Ray,
Nice shot there. Film definitely has that air of authenticity about it doesn't it. But I'm sure you need no convincing.
Cheers

Good film shot Ray. I think the background could be a little darker. the core looks good though.

Nice one Ray,
Man that bugger is huge! Good job on the manual guiding too....(I think I'll stick to the new-fangled method myself.)

Thanks guys. Here is another version. More saturation to bring out the colours and darker background.

That is one nice pic Ray. The same results I hope to achieve ONE DAY.

Film you say? Wow. I tried it years ago and was a dismal failure...
Nice work Ray.

Just picked up on this thread and your images here Ray - that second one is beautifull work imho:welldone::thumbsupmate:.....perhaps it's just the old subconscious kicking in 'cos I know it's a film/emulsion image but it really looks rich, and reminiscent of some of those high quality colour plates in astronomy books before digital infiltrated everything....!
Good on you for the old hand-guiding: even though I'm a digital man nowadays I still like the "feel" of h/guiding.....although after some 45 minute subs of M42 hunched over the I.R. eyepiece at the beginning of the year we weakened and plugged into the laptop and hand-guided onscreen using "Al's Reticle" overlay.....slightly "a clayton's sort of h/g" (no reference to you Rob!!!) but it allows the Missus to get a bit more hands-on in those aspects.....no way would she hunch over an ep, and she'd need a ladder most times too....!
That way I can look over her shoulder "supervising" or wander off and come back later.....though I think the longest I've had her "chained" there is about 15 minutes!!!!!:smile:

Cheers mate. Yeah I'm still a film guy. I'm buying a monochrome CCD camera soon (for the obs), but I'll always shoot film when I'm in the bush.
"Al's Reticle" overlay.....
Never heard of this before. Just downloaded it, nice.
