Hi Guys,

I just took 500 shots of Saturn. I think I did one frame per second.

I saved the capture file. I have 185 meg of data.

When I rebooted my laptop and tried to open this file in K3CCD Tools, it won't open. It says not a valid win32 file.

I'm confident that the data is all there, just not sure how to get this file to work so that I can process it.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks

Ray

Hi Radar,

Not to sure I can help as I have never used k3ccd.

Is all of your captures in one file or in a data folder?

Is it the K3ccd program that is not working? Or the opening of your data folder/data file?

Hi Col,

All of my images are in one big file. I can use a music / dvd player to play the frames through. So I know it's all there. But I'm not sure why K3CCD Tools doesn't want to open it, after all, it made the file. I might reinstall the software and see what I can come up with.

Does anyone know another program that can process K3CCD Tools video sequences?

Thanks

Ray

Gday Ray not sure whats happening ......have you tired Registax, its a popular free/softwareware http://www.astronomie.be/registax/ for AVI/video sequences . Shev i think wrote a great article of the latest version in Sky and Space last edition.

Hi Beren,

I have registax 3.0.1.23.

When I goto "load file", it looks for either a "registax project file" or a "registax frame list". So nothing appears in the open box.

Do you know what the file extensions are for a registax frame list? I'll change the extension and see if that works.

Cheers

Hi Ray,

I have Registax V4.0 on my system and it looks for AVI files.

Make a copy of your files before you go change files extensions though.

Ray try Virtual Dub and convert your AVI into BMPs, without going into to much detail check this tutorial (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/index.php?id=63,306,0,0,1,0) it explains what to do....take the time to go through it , you'll be glad you did :thumbsupmate:

Thanks Beren.

I have downloaded all those programs. I'm up to the part for PPM Centre. I am using the other program (PCFE) that is recommended so that I don't have to use command lines.

How do I use this program with the other the program so that it opens up a window where I can centre the planet please?

At the moment, I'm getting this window -

372

I think I'm missing a step.

Ray if you hit "add folders" a pop window should appear showing c; drive plus the plantery imaging folder , click on that then close the window then hit process and your away
