This shot was taken back in September 2006.
The problem that evening was that as soon as I was ready to image, the clouds rolled in.
I had to wait but it didn't clear properly so I was imaging through thin intermitent clouds.

A lot of the frames ended up on the cutting room floor {the bin}.
This made the stars look bloated and oversaturated but what could I do?

So here's the result:

Average Stack of 46 x 120 sec (1.5 hours) @ ISO 1600 (darks, flats, bias applied).
Imaged through the TOA 130 @ F/5.8 on an EM200 mount using a Canon 20Da.

Hope you enjoy, comments welcome.

Hi Dusty,

For a photo that was taken on a bad night, Very Very Good. :welldone:

Tried viewing the horsehead last night, but alas it just wasn't the right night for it.

That's a pretty good shot considering your conditions.
Is it full frame or has it been cropped?

Cheers Ray,

It was just slightly cropped since the frames were slightly out by the end because my alignment was off a tiny bit and there was no guiding used.
But the field was quite flat.
I used Registar to align and stack the frames.
Great progie, I love it.

Thank you Noel, yes unfortunately the thin cloud cover made the stars, especially Alnitak, very big and bloated.

But I'm very happy with what can be achieved under better conditions with the setup.
