WTB - looking for a Celestron CGE GoTo mount

Hi All

I went on an impulse purchase and now own a Celestron C11 SCT OTA and am therefore looking for the Celestron CGE GoTo mount which has just been discontinued early this year

So if anyone has one and was wishing to upgrade higher than I'm interested to look at your offer! Well perhaps I should also state that a Losmandy G11 might also be OK

G'day Bill,

Congrats on the new scope. From what I've seen of them, they are very nice.

I use a Losmandy G11. It is quite accurate and sturdy. I have not used a CGE mount yet so I can't compare.

From reading reviews they are both good mounts, but if astrophotography is your aim then I'd go with the mount that can carry more weight.

Tim: Yeah I know and I called them but they said that the "Big Boys" club ie Celestron, Meade et al have restrictive trade practices imposed that their dealers are not allowed to sell the branded scopes and mounts to other countries except in the country the dealer/buyer resides - I am organising something about this - shame that though the world having become "smaller" due to internet has made it necessary for such damaging old-era trade practices - where has the principle of free enterprise gone??:frown: I thought that this is the 21st century we live in!!

Ray: Yes it will be some time away yet before this OTA sees first light - I know that I can mount it on my EQ6Pro but then with the SBS mount, guide scope and cameras etc, I am a bit reluctant at this point in time to push my luck so will keep looking for a bigger mount

I did read about a 8yo G11 in very good nick (with Skywalker) in Astro Trader Buy&Sell but though the ad is still active, it has been archived and hence could not get the contact details - never mind will wait and see!!
