With all the lousy weather, Astronomy has not been much fun in the west recently, with thunderstorms, fire and brimstone, however on one evening I hauled the new EQ6 out to give it a try and popped the 10" on top and plugged in the 350d and pointed the beast at the moon in between cloud breaks and this was the result, Photo taken in prime focus Hopefully want to get a complete cycle of the moon like this. I must have done something right, took the camera in to check the photos and made a cuppa and the EQ6 was holding the moon in the exact place I left it an hour earlier.
Cheers
PS This is a single shot and reduced in size only for publishing from original RAW file.

Hi Scorpius
To get a bigger image to post, trim down the dark sky at both sides, it is wasted space and uses up file size. Post a square pic and see the difference.
Nice shot too, and about what one would expect with that setup you are using.
Clear skies...

Actually IMO, I like the way it was originally presented.
The Landscape format gives it a nice overall sense of scale and perspective.
Works well in this case, I think.

Hi Scorpius,
I am sure you will get what I was saying about trimming the sides of your Moon shot to get a larger image of the Moon for posting.
The landscape format with the space is obviously done as a pictorial shot, and very nice it is, as I would do mine also, trimming was just to get a larger image to view on the forum.
Clear skies...
Hi, Dusty, Have you got images of anything for us to look at? what sort of scope & equipment do you use? are you into photography, photometry, observing? astro interests etc where are you located? in Aussie or overseas. We are looking to widen our membership from northern locations as well. Good to compare notes.

 Tks for the comments... I try my best... as for the format I am hoping to complete a full moon cycle with each day presented in the same format, then make a small reference booklet on photo paper.
If you would like a big pickie I could always post the original 6.5MB photo which has a width of 3456px by 2304px :Oh_No:
That pickie was reduced to 800px wide and a mere 55K in size for posting on here and to friends on dialup, which I think is quite reasonable for a decent presentation without too much degradation of the image.
disappears thru little dot in middle of screen as computer closes down.....

We like you too dusty but I think 'the crew' would like a bit of reassurance that, contrary to circulating rumours, you are not an sophisticated, automated bot trawling the internet.
Likewise, there's a need to quell any suspicions you are perhaps a carbon based reconstructive manifestation of the typical mechanised 'computer nerd' - sassing out any competition nearby.
Simply put Dusty buddy, the guys want to know what makes you tick? That is, when you decide you wanna communicate with yourself again.

OK, so that you guys can rest easy and since you are all so friendly, I'll start another thread so we don't go too off topic in this one (oops, too late).
But not tonight, I'm tired...........
Don't laugh Radar, at least I didn't sleep in during the lunar eclipse.....:duh:
